To know linux is to know machine-self.

Well,I found the new things. The technology is the deep bush,it seems.
The Mac I got has 2 hdd in SCSI interface.
To use SCSI interface,we should know about the system of SCSI.
PowerPC 7600/132 has two types of SCSI bus.
The one is inner SCSI that can communicate in the speed of 10Mbps,the other is outer SCSI that can communicate in the speed of 5Mbps.
And my cuty mac can use SCSI ID nunmber 0 to 7.
Well,SCSI number 0,normaly is used as boot HDD.
If you add next HDD in inner SCSI bus,you should change the other's SCSI ID number except number 0.
And normaly,CD device use ID number 3,so you can choose ID 1 or 2.

And,how to change the SCSI ID number to HDD?
That was most difficult my question.
I searched in google sevral hours,I could found the picture of HDD.
It needed jumper pin.I never knew that.

Well now I studied that,I could recognized the other HDD as SCSI ID number 2!
This page gave me advanced.
The problem is not solved perfectly.
I want to use these two HDD as one device. Two HDD are 5.2GB.The one has 1.2GB,the other has 4GB.
To install Linux,or I should say to use GUI interface on Linux,it should need over 4GB.
Raid technology can do the things.
In this case, there are two ways,I buy the raid SCSI PCI card,or I use soft-raid.

There are many things I should do...
But I get over!!

The G3 card,In that, there are description like below.

PC CF 266/512 sonnet Crescendo 1998
PPG3-266-5-KT REV C 69591

Now I need to install some utility, maybe.
My investigation goes on..

It is SCSI HDD.
Is it a error of breaking SCSI logical board?
I don't know about that.

What a hell!

First Writing

Hello world.
I started to write about linux on Mac.
It's a heavy way to do,but I think best way to use a old mac is Linux on Mac.
My friend gave me a old mac.The specs is below.
  • Power Machintosh 7600/132

  • G3 CPU

  • 4GB HDD

Well,I am trying to install "ubuntu" Linux.
That is the distribution of Debian Linux.

Until now, that was the very hard way,but I am believing myself,so I will continue to do that..

Anyway, this is my first blog about Linux on Mac.
I will do success!
